An Unexpected Wife by Susan Payne Review

Thank you NetGalley for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

An Unexpected Wife is a quick, light read. It follows Lorelei and Luke who suddenly find themselves married. Lorelei has just arrived in town to be the new librarian but discovers the place where she was to work is up in flames. Luke, helping to subdue the fire, is drawn to a distraught Lorelei. The mayor eventually tells them both that Lorelei's only option is to marry Luke. The rest of the story follows these two strangers that unexpectedly find themselves married.

I had just finished a heavy fantasy book and I needed a light, summer read so this was good for that. I think I would have preferred if the book was tightened up a bit more - regarding the grammar and even the plot a bit to make it flow better. Since it was a quick read the fast pacing had a lot of events happen suddenly - which can be nice since it's not drawn out but it made me feel disconnected from the characters. And like I was never really immersed in the world of the story.

Overall, a light read and while the writing style was not for me other readers may really enjoy it.
